The construction works of the dam began in 1967 and were completed in 1972. The dam, built for electricity generation purposes, has a height of 158 meters from its foundation, a width of 400-500 meters, and a height of 115 meters from the riverbed. It is located on the Sakarya River, 60 kilometers northeast of Eskişehir.
