About

The tomb of Şeyh Cafer, who was a student of Tapduk Emre, was originally located in the village of Nallıkozlu. However, before the village was submerged under the waters of the Gökçekaya Dam Lake, the tomb was moved to the highland of the same village. Şeyh Cafer was known to have a very strict temperament during his lifetime. It seems that he must have been bothered by the sound of drums at weddings, as he once grabbed the drum and threw it to the other side of the Sakarya River. Since that day, drums are not played at weddings in Nallıkozlu, Ömer Şeyhler, and Emremsultan villages. No brushwood is gathered or firewood is cut around the tomb.
